Greetings, I’m a long time fan of the site can I am steadily approaching my revision. I have had multiple revisions of my band. Needless to say I’m very nervous about the up-and-coming surgery and the outcome. I also feel very strongly that ds is the best option for me.

I’m wondering if anyone did a revision did it all in one step, had any complications, was the weight loss slower than Virgin procedure and what’s the difference eating.

Some of my questions have fairly obvious answers like the difference in eating although I am still interested in your personal experience.

I’m seeing Dr. K by the way. What a lovely and kind man!

Also congratulations to all of you this is such an inspirational place:D

I am in treatment right now for spinal stenosis...horrific back pain...not DS-related 'cuz Mom had the same thing and no DS. I've been screaming in pain and/or out cold for a week now. That is to say, I won't be as able to help as I'd like...but...

Keshishian did my band-to-DS procedure over 12.5 years ago. He knows this stuff like the back of his hand.

For the first ELEVEN weeks post-op I was pretty sure I was dying. But I didn't. Many others had MUCH SHORTER recovery times.

Good luck with all this.

Sue

Hi Dorthy Davis! I had my band removed and DS performed in Feb 2016. I had it as an all-in-one procedure, though Dr Gagner did say if there was extensive scar tissue he'd just remove the band. I had a long surgery, but got it done in one go (which was good, as I was travelling for it).

Your life without the band will improve 100x. I can't believe how I lived with the disordered eating it caused for so long - along with so little weight loss to show for it. I lost 100 lbs between Feb 2016 and Dec 2016 (from 260 to 160) and am now around 140 lbs. I don't eat 'perfectly' by any means, can enjoy what I want without worrying about needing to throw it up, and haven't had to work too hard to lose and maintain. Prioritise protein, limit carbs, enjoy fats - but slip ups are inevitable and the DS is a surgery for those of us who are fallible humans who don't want to be fat any more.

Happy to answer any specific questions!

I can totally relate. I am so sorry you hurt so bad.

My entire back is a mess. But right now, my pain is managed with just an NSAID. That wasn’t the case back about 18 months ago when a nerve got trapped in C6. Spinal stenosis is just one of my issues.

And I have no known family history to blame mine on.
