Insurance requires high BMI for DS?

I wish you good luck. To be frank, with all the warning signs you have been getting from Ganta's office, I'd have hit the road to Ayoola weeks ago - I have little to no tolerance for sloppy disorganized medical practices who don't listen to me.

When (and if) I get the authorization I'll make a final decision as to what I'm going to do. However, I think Ganta is a quality surgeon and a very smart doctor - and wait for it - honest and genuine even (I think I'm a decent judge of character).

One thing I like about Ganta's office is the phone gets answered. I can walk in and ask a question and people are helpful. I actually didn't exactly get those courtesies from Ayoola's office. I'm sure Ayoola is a fine doctor - but I'm not convinced I need to complicate everything by moving my surgery to Denton, TX.

I have not read/heard one single complaint about Dr. Ganta's surgical skill - or anything related to his practice for that matter - in all the online research I've done.

I did search Dr. Ganta's name in all the DS groups (I'm in 5 or 6) and the one general bariatric group on FB. Found three mentions on Ganta (all from 2014). Found ONE mention in the DS groups I belong to... DianaCox, you remember Kayla? Her DS was 10 years ago (now) when Stewart (who taught Ayoola) and Ganta had done about the same number, less than 10 years ago. Four years later, Stewart had done over 100 and Ganta still about 20. According to her on the thread she posted 6 years ago that she would ONLY go to Stewart at that point. Since Ayoola took over Stewart's practice after he died unexpectedly, I wonder what she would say now.

That being said. once you have your surgery Remingtonh make sure you get your operative report. You will need that moving forward for many reasons. It doesn''t matter who does the surgery. Your surgeon may move or die or you move or travel.

OK - update.

I got a call from St. David's Hospital for "pre-registration"

During this call, the agent advised that they have received authorization. The CPT codes authorized are:
43845

43659

,

Actually, I had Kayla's contact info and asked her to post on the other thread, which she did: http://bariatricfacts.org/threads/what-made-you-pick-rny-over-ds.4678/page-2#post-92849
