I am still very early in my quest for a revision from rny to ds. I'd like to hear from from some other revisions. I remember how awful I felt after rny. Oh how I regretted having surgery. I have seen some posts saying the ds life is totally different from the rny life, can I get some examples? I want to be as in fried as possible. Also are there any support group in Sacramento? TIA

Hi and welcome @squisheez! DS was one of the best decisions of my life. Never had a RNY but have friends and family who do and what is remarkable to me is that I am much thinner - they have regained significantly - and our diets are completely different. My diet is full-sized meals and I tend to use a knife and fork where they tend to use spoons...

I can't make the comparison because I've only had the DS, but I can refer you to a valuable resource not too far from you. Dr. Rabkin, of Pacific Laparoscopy in San Francisco, is one of the best revision surgeons around, including for RNY to DS revisions. He has a support group that meets monthly in SF, and anyone is welcome. He does an educational presentation the first hour for new people (I don't know how much would apply directly to your situation) and the second hour is everyone together. I haven't been for years, but it was a friendly group who were willing to share their experiences. Hopefully there would be other revision patients there, but if nothing else, you would meet a bunch of people living with the DS.
Details of time/location should still be on the PacLap website.

Like what kinds of complications? I need to have surgery and get back to work. I have a physical job though, and not healing properly or hurting myself concerns me.
@Charris is our special case here. She honestly should be dead or paralyzed by now but she isn't. If you go find her posts (threads she's started), you will see she's been thru the wringer and not all are directly related to her revision. (Although her car accident was due to a trip to see her surgeon so TECHNICALLY that could be surgery related :) )But she's not typical. She also does not let all her issues get her down.
