DS friendly tortillas--ZOMG!!!

Stay away from any flour (even coconut or almond) until you are at goal or close to goal. I use bread/torillas to hold the ingredients, and may take a bite or two but it's mostly a way to hold it.

@southernlady Thank you! I will, that is why I have been looking for flourless recipes. These are made with pork rinds and cream cheese and eggs--zero flour!
  • 4 ounces plain pork rinds, crushed (113 g)
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt optional
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened (113 g)
  • 6 large eggs*** see note
  • 3/4 cup water (117.44 ml/ 170 g)

Learned something once again from you @southernlady ! I had no clue that coconut and almond flour should be avoided in the weight loss phase....

Plant based flour is still flour, regardless of where it comes from.

I never thought of it that way, actually. I always thought of almond flour as just finely ground up almonds because that's what it says on the bags. But, I suppose that flour in any form, even a nut form would not be useful for DSers. There are tons of recipes that use the almond flour as a substitute on Keto boards, etc. I was specifically looking for zero flour recipes, which led me to the pork rind based recipe above. I'll do more searches for recipes using pork rinds and see what comes out of that. I am so afraid of screwing up my gorgeous new DS. No way I'm adding flour to my diet. I'm hoping that I can find enough flour substitute methods that I will be able to avoid flour forever. Thanks @southernlady for reminding us that flour is flour!

Once you are down the road Mission makes a low carb tortilla that's big enough to use as a wrap and it doesn't taste horrible!
