Hello
I am Melissa, I am from Ottawa, Canada. I had my sleeve gastric in 2015 and I am in process of get revision to DS in Ottawa.

Since I am joining this group and I hope to hear of people who live in Canada and had DS too!

I am excited to start new journey with DS and with you all :)

Cheers

Welcome, Melissa. I don’t know if we have many Canadians. But YOU have…Justin…so on the off chance you have connections, please hang around here. (I’m so old, I’m left over from Pierre’s days. But Justin is cute.)

Who is your surgeon? Have we heard of him/her? For the benefit of those of us south of your border…how long did you have to wait to get approved? How long for the surgery? Do you have to pay for it yourself, or is it a covered benefit?

I’m curious.

I’m also,

Sue

Spiky Bugger thank you!
my surgeon is Dr. Neville, she did my sleeve gastric surgery in 2015 and I meet her last July and discuss about my problems, regain. she suggest me to revision to DS, I agreed. I just started, I will meet the nurse and dietitian on Sept 30th and Oct 4th. DrNeville told me I may get the surgery before new year or so. :)
and Ontario health is covered everything. only I have pay the vitamins, etc...
I am 300lbs, 5'2, so my BMI is 55 ish. it is why she suggest the DS :)

So cool that access is not a huge issue.

My sister had a BMI similar to yours. She got the sleeve. Lost a lot, regained even more. You are not alone.

Hi and welcome! I'm not Canadian, but I lived in Montreal for 4 years, and, as a baby, for about 3 years in Newfoundland. That should count for something.
It's great to know that you have a surgeon who will revise to the DS. We don't have a lot of Canadian resources, so this will be helpful info for others in Ontario.
