Need Insulin?

That’s still super expensive for many. I went thru 4 bottles a month on the insulin pump...at that price, that’s $4752.00 a year.

And even with Part D, insulin is a tier 3 or 4 drug...

Its bad enough that Medicare rations patients on test strips. 100 every 90 days. Ideally, one needs about 10 strips a day to maintain good control. And that is even after my doctor says I need to test 3-4 times a day. I hate insurance companies playing doctor.

They don’t have to PLAY doctor. The insurance companies just BUY medical groups. As in, United Health Care (insurance) owns DaVita Medical, which purchased Health Care Partners Medical Group.

Essentially, your doctor’s income is related to your insurance company.

Except it’s Medicare Part B that pays for test strips. My doctor was more than willing to prescribe up to 5 a day if I needed them. If I had been on insulin, he would have prescribed 10 a day. As it was he said 3 a day. I’m allowed one a day per Medicare rules for one reason only, I am a type 2 not a type 1.
