Whats your BMI now?

Was 44 originally, now 29 BMI, had the DS 7 months ago. Heaviest weight was 277, and now about175. Gastroenterologist seems to think my fatty liver issues will go away when I lose another 25 pounds and I would love to see that happen.

I just hate the qualifier...ya know....like if I had just said 39.7.....like thats 0.3 form morbid obesity. I don't want to have to earn peoples respect by saying 'BUT! I used to be even fatter.' :(
Why not? You worked hard to lose it.

I wish you would speak kindly to yourself because you're diminishing all the hard work you have done. I read somewhere we should speak to ourselves in a way we would talk to our daughters or young women around us. Hopefully that means positive things and not soul crushing things!

I love this!

Highest BMI: 35
Lowest BMI: 17.5
Current BMI: 20

I had gastric bypass to help with severe GERD and reduce pain/mobility issues due to worsening osteoarthritis. I was maintaining at BMI 22 but then reflux & Barrett’s Esophagus returned, causing weight to drop even further. Dr Keshishian fixed intestinal & esophageal issues in July 2018, and since then I have been gaining weight and feeling great; no reflux or joint pain. I’m slim but don’t look skeletal, and I’ve grown half an inch.

Highest ever 41. Lowest ever (post DS) 27.5. Now 30. When I was 27.5 I wouldn't have wanted to get any thinner than that because I would have looked bad.

Highest* BMI: 46
Surgery BMI: 38.8~
Lowest BMI: 20.3
Current BMI: 22.7

*46 BMI was the day I made the decision to inquire about bariatric surgery. I may have weighed more in the past, but avoided scales like the plague back then.

20.3 was a little low for me, at 133.5 pounds or so. Due to consuming simple-carb loaded convenience foods, chocolates, candies, and lots of sugary coffees, and an unrelated prescription drug known to cause weight gain, I got up to 164 (24.9 BMI) this past year. By cutting all that bad stuff out and calorie restricting a bit, I have dropped 15 pounds in the past 3.5 weeks. I'd like to maintain at 138-143 lbs. to be right in the middle of "normal" BMI (143lbs.) I'm about 2.5 years out of surgery.

I'm guessing ~5 pounds of that 15 pounds lost thus far is water weight, so I'm going to diet to around 135 lbs. and then expect to settle around 140 after I eat near maintenance again. (at least that's the plan!)
