We fly to LAX on Sunday morning, meet with Dr K in the morning, get ekg/Chest X-Ray and labs after that, and if everything checks out Cameron will be having gastroparesis remedying surgery (let's hope) in the afternoon.

Dr K will put in what is basically a stomach drain with a roux en y limb off the great curvature of the stomach, do a pyloroplasty depending on what he sees when he gets in and repair Cameron's failed hiatal hernia repair. Hopefully by this time next week Cameron will be well on his road to recovery and back on the path of the life a normal 21 year old kid should be experiencing.

Thanks Dianna for helping me get in contact with Dr K, and for your advice.

Larra, as always your counsel is spot on and as knowledgeable as you are medically, you are an even better person!

BTW Barb and Clarrissa, the procedure will be at Verdugo Hills as Dr K doesn't have as many slots reserved at Huntington so the next one wasn't available for a while. Unfortunately the Comfort Inn in Eagle Rock was booked so we are staying in Pasadena but it is only about 10 miles so shouldn't be too bad (just twice as expensive). :(

Thanks for all the well wishes. I will provide an update when Cameron is through the procedure.

Scott, I'm amazed that Dr. K could get Cameron in so fast. We will all be thinking about him next week and wishing him all the best. If ever there was someone who deserved a break, it's Cameron.

He is an awesome and amazing dude.

I was in COSTCO on Wednesday (or Tuesday - can't remember) and he called me to discuss options and I was asking him a question about timing. I told him that we would fly out Thursday afternoon for a Friday procedure if he could fit us in and he said, "you guys don't mess around do you". LOL....I thought the same thing about him. He would have done the surgery Friday but Kristina said he was booked with people in clinic that day.

The reason I offered to fly out for a procedure today was that he is leaving for a two week vacation on the the 17th and he was hesitant about doing a major procedure before leaving town, so my thought was hey let's get it done Friday that way we have the weekend and next week in case something goes wrong. He actually said to me this is a very complicated procedure with risk so I naturally I want to make sure I am around to take care of Cameron if something goes awry, I mean if this was just a simple DS I wouldn't worry....LOL that was so funny to hear to because we know the DS isn't exactly as simple as say removing a mole.

Thanks for the well wishes and support!

I will be thinking of Cameron and praying this will put his life on a normal path! Please keep us updated on his progress! I am so very happy Dr. K was able to fit him into his busy schedule! Safe travels Scott!

Thanks Rob. It has been a long journey with this one that started in December of 2010 when he was diagnosed with Lymphocyte Predominant Hodgkin Lymphoma. Luckily we had the St Jude Midwest Affiliate and brand new, State of the Art, Children's Hospital of Illinois right here 20 miles from where we live. Cameron spent pretty much the first 6 months of 2011 in the St Jude allocated beds of the CHOI ...chemo for fist 3 months, Pulmonary embolism (week in ICU and he almost died), remission and then the next 3 months with all sort of neurological issues from autonomic dysfunction. We have been to Mayo Clinic 5 times seeing Neurological Specialist, and this last year we spent battling severe depression and that fall out. I think this will be his 11th or 12th surgery since the time of the cancer diagnosis......so I have had lots of practice advocating.

We got to LAX at 1:30 today and by time we got the rental car and got up to the hotel in Pasadena it was about 4. We chilled a little while and then got Cameron's last good meal for a few weeks.. Great pizza

Thanks everybody.. We are looking forward to a good week.
