image.png I found a local surgeon to do my lower body (in IL). But I traveled to Iowa for my upper body/arms/back.

Since then I've had two pregnancies (one live birth), a ruptured Fallopian tube that required surgery and my gallbladder out and gained 40lbs and lost about 20 of it. I am still pretty pleased.

I had a lot of skin- it was so nice to have it gone!! I would love a touch-up on my belly but I'm 40. I won't be wearing a bikini. I'd love my thighs done but my priority is my son and career so I just live with flabby legs.

And to be fair those pictures were 10 years ago. Pre lower body, 3 days out and 3 months out.

This is today. My flabby 40 year old body but it sure beats being 415lbs ! image.jpeg

I have had no plastics but everything I have read says there is insurance out there specifically for issues after plastics and it's not outrageous. Something you can check out.

@CaitlynR, I felt very safe personally in Mexico and professionally with Sauceda. My results are great. Not perfection, but great. He is an excellent surgeon.

If there were complications, I know that Sauceda would help, but many cannot go back to Mexico. I see that @Munchkin mentioned an option of buying insurance just for that purpose.

I took almost all of the stitches out myself. Not difficult, but a slow process. The only area I couldn't reach was a small section in my back for the LBL incision. My PCP removed those stitches. I had two small seromas (very common), golf ball sized; they did not open any incision lines and they resolved themselves.

After surgery I had significant lymphedema in one leg. Once I was home, insurance covered doctor visits and custom made compression socks. I still have some on and off swelling that is managed with the socks.

The cost for plastics was much less than half of the estimates I got in the US. But as I noted, my main reasons for going to Sauceda was his excellent reputation, getting multiple procedures in one surgery, and the included aftercare.

My plastics were in 2012. At the time there was an active Sauceda group on Obesity Help. It looks like it is not that active, but reading back through old posts should provide lots of information.

    I just watched this video

    It's from @SmilinsShrinking

And she is getting an One and Done plastics in MX, I'm so doing this, but I'm firming up a bit still and I still have 12 pounds to go. Can't wait.

    @SmilinsShrinking

You look so good and you are healthy I assume. Nice work.

Looking good! I am very tempted to join you @galaxygrrl but I do have concerns about post-op follow-up once home. So tempting though.

I was super concerned about follow up with my DS, but I found the best PCP and it worked. I like the surgeron that everyone is using in MX for plastics. He has a strong recovery program and for the one and done, you stay in MX for 12 days.

I have not really researched this much but @SmilinsShrinking
said she did. It was 50k to 60k state side and 18k in MX. That is a big difference.

Huge difference in price! Since you have a PCP who could follow you it makes sense. Wish I could be your roommate and use your doc! I had wound healing problems with my DS and that makes me hesitate.
