Friday morning I had a standard follow up appointment. ARNP Howard found a tender area which excited her quite a bit, so an emergency CT was ordered. I drove across the street, drank my barium, drank some fluid that wasn't barium but I don't remember what it was - like stale water. After letting it settle in me, they ran an IV of iodine (which was interesting) and did the CT scan.

I went to my previously scheduled afternoon rheumatologist appointment and had a call afterwards about the CT results. I'm having surgery no later than Wednesday to have what appears to be an internal hernia removed. It's apparently the bit just below where the pylorus used to attach.

This will be at a new to me hospital, instead of the one I prefer, due to the availability of an OR slot.

We'll see how it goes. Dr Srikanth has added a surgeon to his practice, so the OR will have three operators in it - Srikanth, Howard, and Taggart, the new guy.

I've had an ever increasing amount of chest pain that the cardiologist swears is totally not a heart attack. Hope this fixes it.

I hope this is what this mysterious and troubling chest pain has been all about, and that this fixes it!

Is it a hiatal hernia? Hope the surgery also fixes your chest pain.

Better this way than an emergent surgery with incarcerated bowel. Hope they get you fixed right up!

Nope. It's the stub end of the small intestine, maybe. CT was unclear.

Yes. That was a distinct possibility Friday morning.

I hope all goes well and that this relieves the pain for good (and your cardiologist can gloat about how he was right all along). Let us know how it goes as soon as you can.

Check in is around 0430 or 0500 for 0830 surgery. Cardiac clearance requires a visit, which I had hoped to avoid, so I'll be seeing my cardiologist Tuesday. I need to get a sheaf of prescriptions filled, which gives me something to do.

I'm completely freaked out, as usual.

Last time I counted I had 11 or 15 surgical wounds, depending on how you count. Dr Srikanth said he would reuse the old holes, so yay?

Well, who knows. I know Boyce reused one of my DS holes to remove my GB.
