As the title explains, this pre op diet sucks! I'm starving. Just drank my 2nd cup of broth. Please tell me this is not how it feels post op!

Yep, the preop diet sucks!!! It was the worst part for me! But I did lose 11 pounds if it makes you feel better...

Oh, I was a miserable bitch during the pre op diet. It was the worst thing ever at the time. After surgery was totally different, sure I wanted to be able to eat, but I didn't feel like a raging psycho and once I was able to start introducing foods I was stuffed after a couple bites. It'll be behind you soon enough!

I start on the diet in 10 days but am already a little freaked. My morning coffee w/ protein would be 1/3 of my daily carbs.

Do any of you have suggestions for zero carb foods?

Broth, lol. I've been trying to fill the void with different broths as it is a free food on my pre op. What do you add to your coffee to make it high carb? A drop or two of cream and a Splenda or stevia wouldn't add much.

30 g of carbs is tiny, tiny, tiny. I feel like I spit greater than that!

Two of the carbs come from fat free half and half.

I really like MuscleMeds Carnivor Raging Bull, Iced Coffee in my morning coffee. It is beef isolate protein (as opposed to whey or soy or ....). It is 120 cal with 8 carbs. The taste is nice, like coffee with a sweet vanilla flavored fake creamer. But the best thing is that I don't have to be paranoid over adding hot liquid. Where whey will clump and ruin itself, boiling water just makes the beef powder easier to mix. Because really, in what civialized world should you be expected to make coffee before drinking coffee?

In the afternoons I have been trying the different Nectar formations mixed with Jay Robb Egg White Protein Vanilla. The egg white protein powder is 4 g, so I will probably skip that until after surgery.

At night I like to have casein plus green vibrance powder and chia seeds. Arrrgghh!!! That is 22 g carbs. If I ditch the chia, that makes it 16 because who needs fiber any way. I will probably half the green vibrance at that point, because I really don't want to give all it up 100%, especially when I am heading in surgery and then malabsorbtion land.

Wow. It will be a long three weeks. And don't get me started on the last five days.

Read your protein supplement labels. Do you have to do a liquid diet? If not, then think grilled chicken breast and leaves (salady type stuff, spinach etc.) and cucumbers and maybe some zucchini. Oh, and eggs.

What exactly does your surgeon's pre op diet entail? There are so many variations, mine wanted a liquid diet and sent me to a "metabolic specialist" for specifics and he said to do mostly liquids with a lean and green dinner and stay below 1,000 calories. Are you straight up low carb liquids?
