Just wanted to say hello to you all. I had DS on 1/5/18. Some days I feel like I’ve almost got this figured out, then other days I feel like I have no clue what I’m doing! :) I’m looking forward to learning from everyone who’s already gone through this since I’m still basically a newborn in the WLS world!

Hello, and welcome. I had my DS 6-10-16 so I'm finally feeling relatively normal these days but no so far out that I don't remember exactly what you're feeling right now.

Please ask anything you have questions or wonder about.

Welcome. I remember exactly what you are feeling. I thought I would have it all figured out in 3 months. It took about 6 months to get my sea legs and a year until I felt back to normal. Hang tight and understand you have a new body.

Think of it as learning to walk again, but instead of walking you want to run. It takes time. Hang tight. Let us know your questions. We can help

Thank you! I’m feeling pretty well. I’m able to stay hydrated and get at least 100 g. of protein in most days, so I feel very lucky!

Reading this was exactly what I needed to hear. I THINK I’m past the crying/buyer’s remorse phase, but I still seem to get moody and irritable sometimes, have more acne than usual, random spotting when my period’s not due (sorry if that’s TMI). I didn’t know if my hormones are still kind of out of whack? I guess I thought by 3 months out that my body would have figured things out, so I wondered if that’s normal. I feel like I did when I was pregnant in that I read everything I could find to prepare myself for parenthood, but once my kiddo was here, I forgot everything! lol Same thing with the surgery!

OMG this is me too! I still seem to get moody and irritable sometimes, have more acne than usual, and I am 56 so no pms hormones to blame it on! I think it takes our bodies a little while to settle down and get to our new "normal" I kinda feel like I have hit that and then I am abruptly reminded I have not. There is definitely a learning curve with this surgery.

That makes me feel so relieved to hear (not that I want anyone to be moody and breaking out lol—just the fact that you can relate!). I agree with you a million percent about the learning curve. These are the things they definitely didn’t address in my pre-op classes! ;)
