Dr. Patrick Coates' office in Modesto, CA had been doing the SADI/Loop.

According to Diane, his P.A., Dr. Coates is no longer doing the SADI/Loop and is back to doing the traditional DS because the hospitals where he performs surgery deemed the SADI/Loop an experimental surgery and need more research data before allowing it. So he is back to doing the traditional DS at this time.

Good to know, esp for us out here in CA. For some people, depending on insurance, he is the only local or close to local surgeon available who does the DS. And frankly I agree with the hospitals, this is not the same as the DS and while it MAY pan out it is still experimental at this time.

My surgeon actually brought in all of the medical reviewers in the three big insurance companies in North Carolina and had them observe an operation and did a presentation which resulted in them all covering the SIPS procedure for BMI's under 40.

I want to know how he was able to get by with performing the Loop from September 2014 until the hospitals told him no. Fishy fishy.
