    Okay. I need ideas.

I think I am counting my blessings that I didn't have much appetite or interest in food either surgery, it was definitely a chore. But my taste buds were out of whack and I definitely alternated between sweet and savory. I know you're on liquids only right now or purees too? I knew what others...

    Update on Proteinsnob (long)

Never sounded like that to me either (personally), proteinsnob went through a horrible, shudder-worthy ordeal. Complications can happen and it's good for people to know all the ramifications. And I think contingency plans smart thinking too; I was single/no dependents both surgeries, and I had...

    Update on Proteinsnob (long)

Not too long at all! And you absolutely should post about what's going on with you so you can continue to get guidance and support for your issues. You should never question or feel guilty posting the difficulties you deal with. This wasn't a virgin surgery, it was a revision; and in either...

Hurting burning stomach does it ever stop

Never feel bad about how often you call/email him. This is a surgeon who has made housecalls to traveling patients in their hotels and delivered pain medication. I know from personal experience he feels that once you are his patient you are always his patient. And he specializes in very...

    leaving hospital Ama its BAD!

There was not one selfish move in anything you did, and I can empathize with that sense of loss and not being able to deal with any more, really resonates for me personally. You just wrote a giant chapter in the book of patient advocacy. What you did was amazing in of itself; and you will never...

    accountability thread

What she said :) I'm very glad to see you posting what you're eating, nothing to be shy about and it's the best way people can help you 'tweak'. Good for you for being open to comments, suggestions, that's the attitude needed to go the distance with this. You are a revision and if I remember...

    Taterweight Surgery Date

Ok so are you trying to say, I should NOT bring you chopped liver and gefilte fish from Canters when you're here? ;) Heather/Mariposa, LOOK at you, brand new post-op and already paving the way for another bariatric sister. I am SO glad I got to hug you in person, you ROCK!

    Taterweight Surgery Date

Prepared and yet, right, don't buy too much of anything, you might be surprised by just how fickle your tastebuds can be for awhile. Things I loved, I was like 'eeeew' things I would never think of would become my BFFs. I missed diet soda too, and carbonation, but managed to muddle through it...

    My Switched Life so far

You're doing oh-so-well, this is how it rolls - sip, walk, rest, get in what nutrition you can, repeat. I'm glad to hear you feeling good in your body (as good as you can with major surgery!) and even more, in your head.

    Taterweight Surgery Date

Wowee! Got your back girl, you are handling this all like a rockstar and I know it's the same attitude you will have as a post-op. So I get to meet you and DH that much sooner. California is ready and waiting for you my dear.

    Cheezy skillet "bread"

Dense is good, I love ezekiel bread; eggy, not so much. This has been the challenge for me when making savory type breads; right, coconut flour seems to work better for sweeter type things (like the creamcheese pancakes, fruity quickbreads, chocolate 'brownie') Going to try this one, I bet it...

    Gorgonzola Sauce

I love Ina Garten/Barefoot Contessa! And her style of cooking, which combines french country, hampton/classic, pretty much works for us DS folks. This is basically a style of alfredo, I've made these a lot, though I do like gorgonzola which in the bleu cheese family, just a lot mellower. Asiago...

    Saying goodbye to fur baby.

Oh Pam, I'm so deeply sorry. Sancho knew how much he was loved by you, and his last day was spent surrounded in the love of you and your family with Teddy. Big hugs to see you though this difficult loss. I'm squeezing my puppitos Robbie and Zoe a little extra for you and Sancho.

    leaving hospital Ama its BAD!

I am so so sorry to hear this, couldn't offer anything better than what you've had posted here so far, and the only other medical practitioner I ask questions of is our mutual surgeon. Just wanted you to know how terribly sorry I am and hope you/your cousin get resolution and she's ok.

What do you use for "breading"?

Taterweight, you star pre-op! These are fantastic suggestions, and, I didn't know you were celiac, we've been blabbing a storm about so many things. Just another reason you are going rock the DS.

    Cheezy skillet "bread"

This looks really good, does the almond flour work, it's not 'eggy'? That's always my challenge with using the alternative flours for more savory breads.
