How much calcium carbonate do you take a day with meals? Seems like this is in addition to calcium citrate, right?

Kidney Stones - info for urologist

Oh, thanks so much for your advice. I currently take calcium citrate, but that might not be the right one. New respect for those who have had kidney stones. I've had many health issues in my life, but that was a new kind of hell.

Kidney Stones - info for urologist

Hi all, I haven't posted in years, but always love the advice from this site. I had a sleeve in 2011 and a DS in 2017. All has been going well. I have osteoporosis and take calcium supplements. A few months ago I had my first kidney stone - oh, what hell that was. I'm going to a follow-up...

    Fish Oil for Dry Eyes

Thanks to all for your comments. I've had severe dry eyes for more than 20 years. I have some autoimmune issues, including Sjogren's syndrome. Dry eyes and dry mouth are hallmarks of Sjogren's. I had punctual plugs a few times over the years, but they never helped. I've been on Restatis since...

    Fish Oil for Dry Eyes

I have severe dry eyes. In addition to Rx and OTC eye drops, my eye doc wants me to add fish oil and specifically recommended one of three brands. Since we poorly absorb oil, I'm thinking it is not worth even trying. And I have no real interest in adding even more pills to my daily routine. I...

    Sunday Weigh In (9/3/2017)

All of my adult life I was over 200 pounds, with a high of 265. But I refused to put a weight higher than 180 on my driver's license. I remember after my VSG when I was excited to make it to my driver's license weight. It is nice to not have to lie on the DL anymore.

    Lets talk about plastics

@CaitlynR, I felt very safe personally in Mexico and professionally with Sauceda. My results are great. Not perfection, but great. He is an excellent surgeon. If there were complications, I know that Sauceda would help, but many cannot go back to Mexico. I see that @Munchkin mentioned an option...

    2 Months Posts Op

J - Great to hear that you are doing so well. It seems like we were having our DSs a long time ago, not just two months. All is good here too. My weight loss is much, much slower, but I only had 25-30 pounds to lose. I have lost 15 of those, but most of it was the first two weeks. Without a...

Oh, @DianaCox, I love that you mentioned Stouffer's Welsh Rarebit; it has been one of my favorite foods for decades. In the 70s and 80s, Stouffer's had restaurants in a dozen or so cities, all with great views and called Top of the ... (Top of the Rock, Top of the Town, Top of the Riverfront...

    Lets talk about plastics

Galaxy - I had VSG 6+ years ago. I recently has the DS to combat bile reflux. I had gained only a little weight since my VSG low. At the time of my DS, I was lighter than a DS lightweight -- a featherweight? bantmweight? I had significant plastics with Sauceda in Mexico years ago. I love my...

    So New

The True wildberry lemonade packets with stevia are excellent. I'm not a fan of the Mio liquids, but Kool Aid liquids with sucralose are good. I look for stevia first, then sucralose, and try to limit aspartame.

    2 weeks post op

It was nice meeting you in the hospital, albeit briefly. So glad to hear you are doing well. Being just a few days behind you, I'm doing remarkable well too. I have no pain. I haven't taken a narcotic since leaving the hospital. Since my sleeve was not touched and I didn't have a variety of...

    The Scary Bottle of Miralax

Yes, another poop story. I'm 8 days post op from VSG to DS and doing great. For bowel movements, I've had very little so I thought it was time to take Miralax. So last night I put the bottle of Miralax on the bathroom counter so I would remember to take it in the morning. I'm one of those...

    VSG to DS Day 2

The blue dye wasn't bad at all. Tasted like apple juice. Such a sense of freedom to have the IV out. My back still aches horribly since both the bed and the recliner make it difficult for me to find a comfortable position. Mid morning my pain shot up, accompanied by dizziness and nausea. Fun...
