    Hernia :(

Huh, food for thought. I'm quite a ways from goal but I guess I'll see what surgeon says as far as if there's any reason I shouldn't wait. Also I guess I'd have to coordinate a plastic surgeon with the general surgeon.... I've already met my deductible and maximum out of pocket for this...

    Hernia :(

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a strange bulge in my upper abdomen. (It looks like a small baby bump!) Took a little time to get into my doctor and then get approved for a CT scan and yup, I have a hernia. Guess that's the best case scenario of what the bulge could be. I waited longer than...

Recommendations for a Mexico Duodenal Switch Doctor

I am another Mexicali Bariatric Center patient, my surgeon was Dr. Wilhelmy. Excellent experience from start to finish! The idea of going to Mexico for surgery initially sounded insane to me, but I am so glad I did the research, read all the reviews, etc.

    I have so many questions....

I am only 3 months post op so not the voice of experience that so many others are, but thought I'd respond because I had so many of your questions and was scared witless at times while considering going through with it. Bowel movements seemed like a big issue for some people and the thought of...

    Weight training vs Cardio...the ARGUEMENT

The only times in my life I have managed to be normal weight were when I did both cardio AND strength training (along with strict diet). Cardio alone does nothing for me as far as weight loss -- I trained for and ran a half marathon and didn't lose any weight whatsoever. But once I get into a...

    2 Months Posts Op

I agree completely! But I don't want to seem like I'm pushing my choice on her, just told her to let me know if she wants more info on my surgery or websites I scoured when making my decision....

    2 Months Posts Op

Well it's officially two months today since my surgery. I am doing very well, feeling great. My back has completely stopped hurting, I can sleep in my bed again (I spent 2 months sleeping on my couch!) I am down 32 pounds from day of surgery, 45 pounds from highest weight earlier this summer...

That will be a nice change. When I was tempted and thinking about getting a tall slim latte I stopped and said "wait! No more skim!" Ha

    6 weeks post op

That's the rec from my surgical practice, I know others go back sooner. I'm going to hold out as long as I can because I used to drink too much coffee and don't want that to come at expense of drinking water

    6 weeks post op

Thanks! That's why I post -- because I was always interested to hear how people were doing in the first few months after surgery. Best of luck to you!

    6 weeks post op

And I am continuing to do well. I really feel completely normal, have to remind myself to stick to the rules laid out by my surgeon's practice and not rush things. Wanted to start light weightlifting but am going to wait the full 8 weeks, wanted a cup of coffee BAD this morning, but will wait...

    2 weeks post op

Thanks, good words of wisdom. I'm definitely still taking it easy, only walking a slow 20 minutes a day right now. And taking the lifting thing seriously -- a good excuse to make my kids step up and be responsible and do more around the house!

glad you are doing well , although not surprised given that you were doing work later that night after your surgery, you seem quite resilient ha ha. Yeah I'm going slow and abiding by the post op diet given that I am a virgin DS and had gallbladder out. Taking no chances!

    2 weeks post op

When I was preparing for surgery and combing through all the old posts in the DS forum I always stopped to read any post about "x days" or "x months" after surgery to get an idea of what life would be like, so here's mine.... I feel pretty damn good! Not gonna lie, first week was very rough...

    OMG the smells

I made it. Unfortunately had diarrhea on and off all day which made things a little stressful worrying about getting to the bathroom while we are landing etc but made it through ok. The airport wheelchairs were a good call.

    OMG the smells

So it really is like a pregnancy trimester

    OMG the smells

its like being first trimester pregnant again! 9 hours in airports and flights yesterday was torture. The woman sitting next to me on one of my flights brought on some sort of onion bagel sandwich concoction for gods sake and I wanted to hurl. Had to breathe through my mouth until she ate the...

    VSG to DS Day 0;

Hope you are sipping now! I got so sick of the same beverages three times a day I'm glad I'm home. The blue fruit punchy drink they provide is a poor choice. Negative association with the blue dye test so I couldn't stomach the thought of drinking it.

    Did it! I'm switched

Glad to have met you briefly this morning and hope your surgery today and recovery over the next few days goes swimmingly!

    Did it! I'm switched

i was convinced something would prevent me from getting the surgery. A month ago I had diverticulitis, 2 weeks ago shingles and then the day before I left my ex, who is supposed to be watching the kids, got in a car accident. Luckily not too serious. Surgery was Monday and this is the first...
