    Covid Vaccination?

I had COVID-19 in November and could not WAIT to get vaccinated. I got my first shot on January 12th and will have my second one within the next two weeks. Because I've recently had the virus, the first shot made me feel kinda icky for a day or so but the next one will be better, I'm told...

    Hi all!

Hello again, everyone! I've thought about you all many times over the years and meant to get back here and check in but didn't! I've been a nurse now for 2 years and I work in addiction medicine. I love it. It's challenging and rewarding. The surgery helped me but it was (as you all know)...

    Lab question (especially iron)

I probably need to check it more than I do, but it generally stays between 80 and 115 which is fine. I'm not really concerned with diabetes but with why the A1C is so low. I'm wondering if it's indicative of something else that's wrong. If it is hemolysis, there may be a reason my red blood...

    Lab question (especially iron)

Thanks for the response. I had poked around the internet to see if other switch patients had abnormally low A1C numbers but didn't have much luck finding it. With my RBCs in normal range it was a little perplexing to try to figure it out. It doesn't seem as if I'm unable to make...

    Lab question (especially iron)

Long time, no post! I got some labs done and I'm okay with most of it but especially confused about two things that maybe others have experienced? For the last few times I've had my HgA1C done it's been under the 4.2% range. Not sure actually how low it is because the test either shows...

Stall at week 2 ..trying not to panic

Thank you for posting this. I know I should stay off the scale & I read the awesome explanation of the 3 week stall, but I can't help it that there's a part of my brain that's saying "This surgery isn't going to work for you. It just isn't going to work." I try to shake it off and just keep...

VSG to DS conversion, lots of questions post op

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this!!! And thank you to our brilliant @DianaCox for explaining it so simply. I've been beating myself up and just bewildered. I know that I'm eating less than 800 calories a day so I've been dumbfounded at my lack of results.

VSG to DS conversion, lots of questions post op

It does feel good although I wish the scale would reflect it more. My DS was 3 weeks ago today. After 8 days I'd lost 17 pounds! Since then? I've actually gained 2 pounds and I honestly don't know how. I'm going to try to stay off the scale until my 1 month appointment next week. Thank you...

VSG to DS conversion, lots of questions post op

I had my first BM at about 5 days post OP. I was eating about the same amounts you area eating. 1/2 cup of potato soup, 4oz yogurt, 3 oz broth. It was pretty loose at first. I've yet to have one that is completely solid, but it's manageable.

VSG to DS conversion, lots of questions post op

Like you, I wasn't resleeved. I was clear liquids for 24 hours, full liquids for first week, and then switched to purees at my 1 week appointment. They told me that as long as I did that okay for a few days, I could switch to a "normal" diet 5 days later. It's odd. Even though they didn't...

    Weight gain aleady??

I'm going to take this to heart. I'll be 3 weeks out this coming Tuesday and I can already feel a desire to weigh myself too much.

    Effective whenever politically expedient

Did you see the quote from the brainiac Republican congressman from Idaho? : “Nobody dies because they don’t have access to health care" - Raul Labrador. I think he should put his money where his money is. He should give up healthcare for himself, his wife, and their 5 kids. He wants to help...

VSG to DS : week 1 of naivete

16 days out from VSG to DS and I am pulling for you. I've had good days and bad days, but it is DEFINITELY harder than the sleeve. My sleeve was outpatient and of the 30 vicodin I was prescribed, I took 3. THIS surgery? So different. So, I feel you. I hope that little by little, day by day...
