    Lethargic and depression..is it common?

I suggest therapy. Getting the DS is a huge life changing event and it sounds like he is having trouble coping. If he would consider someone to talk to, it could help alot. Also for mild depression exercise is just as effective as medication. So hit the gym!

    Post op Bra issues?

I had an open DS too. The bra was wicked painful. I almost had to extend the time I took off work because wearing a bra was too painful. I ended up getting something like a genie bra. It had just enough padding for no show and a little support without killing me too much.

I went to Dr. Greenbaum in NJ. It was about 20k including a 5 night hospital stay.

Do you get by without iron infusions?

I get infusions. For me the hematologist said to just stop taking the iron pills, you don't absorb them. It has made my vitamine regime much easier, so I'm happy with it.

How young is too young for DS?

I think VSG is fine for a teen but not the DS. I don't think they are mature enough to understand the consequences of non adherence to vitamin regime. If they need the DS later, they can always get it.

Compression stockings are a must! You don't want to get a blood clot.

PANIC city: Greenbaum patients, feedback please.

I had surgery with Dr. Greenbaum. The hospital is nice. I don't know why the bad reviews. I had a private room and was very comfortable.

I second that @Larra ! I don't know what I would have done if you didn't help me find this site and offer your wisdom about the DS. Thank you!

    Floppy mesentary

I looked up mobile cecum. I don't think that is what I have, although it is similar. My pain is more epigastric in nature, right above my belly button. More small intestine than large.

    Floppy mesentary

I didn't have the luxury to go to my original DS surgeon. He is about 6 hours away. So I went to my local bariatric office that just started doing the DS last year. So I had the chief of surgery plus the only DS surgeon in my state doing the surgery.

    Floppy mesentary

I have been having some abdominal pain, and the CT scan showed inflammation. My doctor decided I needed an exploratory laparoscopy to rule out internal hernia and other scary things. So I had surgery on tuesday. He said there was some scar tissue causing the intestines to adhear to each other...

Anyone get denied? And/or was self-pay?

I was shocked when I got the letter. But, yup they paid. Now getting the money back from the hospital is taking forever! I'm 9 months out and I still haven't received the check. And yes, I have been calling them.

Anyone get denied? And/or was self-pay?

I was also a VSG to DS revision. BCBS denied me at first. I self paid and my surgeon won my appeal. I will be getting reimbursed any day now.

    Just curious about Dr. K

I didn't travel for Dr. K, but I did travel for an experienced DS surgeon. He had me stay in the area for 2 weeks post op. After that I have never been back to see him. I have talked to him on the phone and email since. If you can afford it, I would go with Dr. K. I have only heard amazing...

Forgot to add; when they took my lap band out, they took the whole thing. Port and all.

    Hello!

I'm a VSG to DS revision as well. I'm so happy I did it. The biggest thing I was concerned about was taking vitamins. I admit the first few months was rough, but now at 9 months out it has gotten so much easier. I feel that it is a fantastic trade off.

Would it be better to crush calcium?

Maybe try bone up. It's a capsule, so it would just dissolve.

    Enlarged Alimentary limb

I have been having abdominal pain and I had a CT scan done. It shows that a segment of my alimentary limb is 3x its normal size. It is very inflamed. The rest of my intestines look normal. The bariatric doctor who is following me for my DS, has no idea what is going on. I will be having an upper...
