JenKapNC DS surgery [NC | Oct 8, 2015]

Hi guys. Unfortunately this update comes from my hospital bed where I have been for the last week or so. When I was first readmitted they thought there may be some type of blockage so they went back in and did an exploratory lap. Everything looked fine but they just wanted to make sure that...

    I have a surgery date!!!

Just a quick check-in... pre-op to sign paperwork, consent etc on 9/28. Insurance approval in hand. I felt a little better today when I found out my Dr hasn't lost anyone yet with this surgery. Looking forward to sharing the journey with several of you. My mom's been in the hospital so I've been...

    I have a surgery date!!!

I've had a few bumps and redirects along my journey, but was excited to get a call today to schedule my DS surgery with Dr. Sudan at Duke in NC. 10/8/15. I am excited and nervous. I have soooo much to live for which is why this surgery is important and for the same reason I worry about something...

    You'll never stop being fat!

Thank you for sharing this. I have issues pre-op and I can't imagine where my head is going to be post-op. This was therapy for me...

SADI-S / Loop - Please share facts about this new procedure here.

Just as an update ... in some of my other groups individuals who had the SIPS/SADI performed and were told it would be covered after a peer to peer call are now having insurance deny the claim months later. NC BCBS is the insurance company at issue in the instances I know of.

    Vita lady

@southernlady - I'm a little worried... I'm still pre-op and while my other iron levels are normal level my ferrittin is really, really low. Would this make the DS dangerous for me? Just trying to make sure I'm not making a life-threatening decision. TIA.

    Excel spreadsheet to track labs?

Working my way through the spreadsheet and setting up graphs. I'm a visual kind of gal. I finally got somebody at the Drs. office to post my labs so I have most everything now. I still need PTH for baseline... and I think I'm missing Vitamin K and E. My D is low pre-op and my ferritin is...

Deleted my post... sorry I misread what was stated.

    Excel spreadsheet to track labs?

@newanatomy and @southernlady Thank you soooo much!!! @robs477 ... Is there anyway I can get a copy of your template too? I am an anal accountant so I'm probably going to set up graphs with norm levels so that I can chart and watch trends. Did you guys use the suggested labs from Vitalady...

    Excel spreadsheet to track labs?

I believe I've pulled down the accurate information from VitaLady to track vitamin and mineral levels, etc. I just wanted to see if anyone had put this info into an Excel spreadsheet yet? If so, may I get a copy. If not, as I get closer to my surgery date I will try to complete one and share...

    Update on my status

Just wanted to say thank you for all of the advice and encouragement. Just hanging out waiting for that 7/29 consult with the new Doc. FYI I'm having a doozy of a time getting my previous Doc to send the results of my pre-op tests over to Dr. Sudan. Wooooossssaaaa. That's my relax word when I...

    Vita lady

Did you guys start your vits right away? I know that I have the potential to be anemic (there are times I have been in the past) and a slight D deficiency pre-op lab. I don't trust Drs as much as I trust you guys. As a potential DSr... when would you recommend starting Vits and what would you...

    Update on my status

So my initial consult was for SIPS with Dr. Enochs (Cary, NC) in late April. I was 3/4 of the way through pre-op when BCBS stopped covering SIPS. Enochs has offered to do a DS with a long common channel like he does for his SIPS patients, but that seems odd. After some soul-searching and tons of...

    Vita lady

I was just on VitaLady today. One of the biggest benefits for me would be the pre-packaged sets she is offering by surgery type. As a newbie, I'm not sure how it would work practically, but the theory of having daily packs with individual packets of my early morning, breakfast, lunch and dinner...

    Common Channel Length in Sadi-s

Agreed... which is why I'm leaving the practice that is pushing SIPS and going with a well-qualified DS surgeon... If I can get them to call me back and schedule my consult (sorry, venting).
