    Lab levels

I know it is on here somewhere...but I can't find it. What are our lab levels supposed to be...not normal people...dsers. I am tired of fighting this pcp that is keeping me half dead. Iron transfusions that keep me just above dead. How to get them to listen to you?

I just realized I am no longer obese and wanted to share my small victory.

The weight keeps falling, pants size keeps getting smaller. The only thing I can complain about is my hair falling out....but I would trade obesity for baldness any day. just need to learn to tie a head scarf :D

What helped the most for post surgery adjustment?

Eat alone. I know it sounds funny, but having people around makes you want to talk, swallow that bite too soon, and eat too fast. Being able to eat and only think about the food helps. If you need to have lunch meetings, just do coffee instead. Slow drinking with others is easier than eating...

    can I open the vitamins?

Dr. Enochs will do a real DS if the patient has done their homework and requests it. The practice likes the SADI, and prefers it over the ds because in their opinion most people will not follow the vitamin plan and get into trouble. Something all doctors want to avoid. Most sleeve failures and...

    can I open the vitamins?

I still can't swallow all these pills. Most are the capsules that have power in them. One smells horrible, so I probably won't do it to that one, but the others...could I put the powder from them in yogurt and swallow it down that way? Most are from vita lady. I just want to get better, have...

How does one fail/ break their surgery?

@Munchkin in your case it is more of the surgery failed you, rather than you failed the surgery. You did everything right, and it still wasn't good enough. And yes, @more2adore that is a very sobering fact. But even still this is a life line to get out of the rut we are in. Even if we don't get...

How does one fail/ break their surgery?

We all have done it. Jumped on the scale day after day so excited to see because it is falling so quickly...then it happens. Stall. Suddenly the excitement ends and worry comes over you. What happened? Did I do something? Luckily we have this friendly place with wonderful people to put our minds...

Dr Daniel Cottam, BMI of Utah.

i just had an "old ds" done, and mine was completed in 2 hours. I think time also highly depends on doctors skill level. Also the hospital booked the ER for 3 hours just because the before and after stuff like putting on the table, putting you to sleep and then stitching you back up is also done...

    I am worried about myself

I did that a couple times until I read here that the body can only absorb 30 grams of protien at one shot, so by adding an extra scoop to shakes, you are really only wasting that money....and it is expensive. Squishy hugs.

Is there a normal first "plateau"?

i had a gain last week and the ladies here gave me some advice you could try. Because as soon as I listened to them, things started moving again. Stop eating food. Just because the doctor says you can doesn't meant you have to. Go back to shakes. With the pain you are having you also may not be...

    gained 5 pounds!

But to clarify, I only eat yogurt smoothies, cream soup and pudding all protein fortified, and even that hurts. I was getting tired of the isopure. But I will go back if I really got to. :frown:

Growls and hunger feeling so much better. Still can't get much food in though, so it must be the Prevacid working. There still is so much pressure at the breast bone even after just a trickle sip. doctor follow up on Tuesday. We will see his opinions then.

Day 6 post op...still feel like crap

Day 12, and I finally slept without pain meds. Slept is an over statement though....when did my bed become so terribly uncomfortable?

    Hungry? Gas?

Just got some Prevacid...I will try anything right now. There is no burning pain one would associate with the typical acid problems, but we will see. This rolling thunder just has got to go. I heard the acid could also be because of the hiatal hernia repair that was done the same day?

    Hungry? Gas?

I get this pain at the bottom of my breast bone, my tummy grumbles and it moves down. Sounds like a ravenous stomach, but I thought that part of the stomach is taken away and we aren't supposed to feel hunger? I can't eat much. Still a struggle to get 4oz cream soup in. Drink mostly clears...

Day 6 post op...still feel like crap

Thanks to all for your words of encouragement. It makes me feel a lot better. I was thinking something was wrong with me, but 2 more days have passed, and I do feel better. I must have been too drugged up to remember, but hubby said the doctor repaired a hernia, so I got a small hematoma between...

Day 6 post op...still feel like crap

i guess we always go into these things thinking wee are strong...then we realize how weak we really are. I had 3 cesarean sections. I was skipping and laughing down the halls at discharge. I thought I would be fine with this one. After a 4 day stay at the hospital, I was begging for just another...

    I have a date!

Been lurking in the shadows for a few months now, thought I would finally come out and say hi. First I wanted to say thanks to the ladies that keep this site running. The funny candor and the troves of info helped me so very much in making my decisions and preparing for the journey ahead. A bit...
