article on vitamin/mineral patches

I figured you all would say this. I wasn't sure what type of vitamins (capsules, dissolvable, etc.) I can take right after surgery, or when for that matter - so I ordered some ADEK, D3 (5K), and multivitamin - "bariatric marketed" dissolvable kind, just to get me started. Only 60 doses of each. I'll definitely switch to 50K+ when I can take dry pills, whenever that is.

Surgery is a go for this coming Monday, the 13th. I'll keep you all updated.

"bariatric marketed" doesn't mean suitable for the DS. Remember, we are in the minority of bariatric surgery patients. Anything geared towards the bariatric surgery market will be geared towards gastric bypass (and may not even be adequate for that operation, but definitely not for the DS).
come on, you've been reading and asking questions here for awhile now, and there is lots of great vitamin/mineral info here. You can get the dry D, A, and K on Amazon. Very easy! We all wish you well, but hope you will take good care of yourself and not become a statistic of your surgeon. We can't do it for you.

This is what I was planning to ultimately take, I copied this from another thread I believe:
Double dose of Centrum or equivalent, 2000 mg of calcium citrate, 50,000 iu of dry 3D and 25,000iu of dry A. 1000 iu of dry K.

I only ordered the "bariatric" vitamins because they were dissolvable tablets. I figured it would be a month or more before I could take hard capsule vitamins. Was I wrong?

Yes, many of us have been able to take “hard” vitamins after bariatric surgery. I couldn’t take them in a handful but one at a time, and my calcium citrate were large so I cut them in half.

Actually most of us could swallow pills/capsules off the bat. We aren’t RNYERS who had their stomach totally reconfigured into a pouch. (wanted to say butchered).

I was taking pills before I left the hospital. It was a process because you can't wolf down a handful LOL. In the beginning biggest thing is hydration honestly - choice between vitamins and water, choose water. Won't be long and you'll be downing them like a champ

Yes! And you don’t have to start vitamins right away. Drinking and eating what you are allowed is full time job. If you take any RX meds you should be able to get them down then start adding vitamins in one by one the next few weeks.
