Hello MIA Revision Surgery on 2/5/18

instead of the capsules you can also get fiber that dissolves completely (truly, can't detect it IMO) in any liquid you are drinking anyway.

Congratulations on the revision. I had RNY to DS revision 5 years ago. It was a difficult recovery but so worth it. Benifiber is wonderful I add it to my protein drink in the mornings.
Take care

How are you feeling now? I'm having a revision aug 8 from an RNY to a DS. I'm excited but also concerned about recovery. I own my own business and will be facilitating client retreats 6 weeks after surgery. They're 16-18 hour days for 8 days straight.

They're exhausting even without surgery :)

Also, if you don't mind sharing, how's your weighloss going?

Thanks!

I am 5 year's post-op. I needed 14 weeks off from work. I had complications, a leak, and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. This is not the norm so yes it can happen but probably will not be your experience. When I did go back to work I went back full time without any problems. I lost all of my excess weigh and got down to 117 in a year. I had the subsequent bounce back to 135 and have been maintaining until recently. I intentionally dropped down to 127.

Good luck.

Do you have someone to help you or are you a solo business? IF you have help, make that person do most of it while you are available but not the go to person.

I am doing really well it was like a light switch turned on at about 7 weeks post op I started feeling better but still not myself, (energy levels still in the toilet) then it was learning how to eat again. I'm not going to lie recovery was tough and I went through just about every stage that all others talk about and even wanted to die at one point. LOL. I have lost about 35 and have been plateauing but am really focused on my carbs so I just broke through that and have lost 3 more lbs. So almost a total of 40 lbs in about 10 weeks. I dont expect to keep up that momentum but I will take what I can get.
As far as facilitating retreats at 6 weeks after surgery there would have been no way I could have done that. I was very blessed with NO complications either but recovery was really difficult for me. Remember everyone is different. I would seriously discuss this in depth (recovery time frame and process) with your surgeon. That was one thing I failed to do.
Best of luck with your surgery and keep us posted.
I didn't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I didn't want to sugar coat anything either.

Congratulations! You are still early out -- it is exhausting. I had complications and was in the hospital for a month plus had months of recovery at home. You are doing great! The revision is tougher than the virgin DS. Hang in there. Hydrate, walk, and get in your protein.

Your job is to recover right now. This includes: drinking 64 ounces of water, 30 gram of protein in 30 days, 60 grams of protein in 60 days, and 90 grams of protein in 90 days. After 90 days up protein to 100+ grams. Begin to work on your supplements to get up to the full schedule of supplements by month two or three.

Thank you I am doing great with hydration getting over the 64 oz of water, my protein intake is on track and I am even getting over the 100 grams a day. I look for the most protein packed meats and foods I can find. I feel like I am either eating or drinking all the time. LOL Where I am struggling is with the supplements I HATE TAKING PILLS! LOL But I bought a monthly pill box with my daily supplements all set up for each day. I am trying to make it a game but right now I am not winning!
I keep trying to get to the gym to either swim or walk on the treadmill but I am failing here too but I am so much more active than I have been in the last couple of months! My energy is slowly getting better and I can feel the difference in my body and range of motion from even the small weight loss I have had so far.
I have dropped 2 pant sizes and one blouse/top size. I cleaned out my closet for the first time and took 3 leaf and lawn trash bags full of mostly pants to the Goodwill and that felt sooooooo good. I am a clothes whore!! LOL! Love clothes!

Thank you for this!!! It's so helpful in starting to plan my first few months after surgery. Congratulations on your success!

I have someone who helps with all the behind the scene work and someone who facilitates about an hour a day, but the rest is all me.

I just finished a retreat week on Saturday and I'm wiped. I'm going to need to either try to change the date with the hotel or have Lisa facilitate more of the retreat.

Thanks for helping me walk through the practical structures of the week.

THANK YOU!!! You are so not a Debbie Downer! I really need practical advice so I can make the best choices to protect and take care of me and my clients.

I can imagine how hard it is to adjust to a new way of eating. Especially after already having the RNY. BUT, I'm so happy to hear your losing weight. It's been hard to find people with the rny conversion to the DS who are talking about how much weight their losing. I keep hearing revisions lose much slower than newbies but not actual numbers.

I even had Dr. Roslin say he wouldn't guarantee that I would lose weight by converting to the SIPS. That blew my mind.

Anyway, thanks so much for sharing. I hope you keep feeling better and stronger everyday!

OK when I first read this it kinda made me mad and then I had to realize can anyone really guarantee weight loss? But WOW for him to actually say that, then why go through all the trouble of surgery, not to mention all the complications that can happen. I would revisit him again on that comment. Because seriously if the surgery is not going to be a success then why do it?
Have you considered the traditional DS with 2 anomostisis?(spelling lOL) Just wondering.

Although I didn't get that comment, I liked Dr. Roslin. While he can't guarantee someone's weight loss, he only says that to his revision patients. To newbies, he says if you follow the plan, you will lose.

Anyway, I'm not interested in the SIPS procedure which is the only operation he will do on revision patients.

I'm using Dr. G (Dr. Antanavicius) in PA. They do the revision to the full DS. Although, I'm slightly concerned with the AI length he quoted me. I don't see him again until June. Hopefully, I can get some answers from his staff before then.

What did he say your AI length would be?
