Hello, My Name is Kyle and I just received my surgery date, 11/2/17, with Dr. Dennis Smith in Celebration, FL. Thank you to everyone who participates on this page! Your input steered my away from one surgeon and to Dr Smith, he has been amazing!

Any words of wisdom to help guide me through the next 3 weeks?

Welcome! Dr. Smith has an excellent reputation and does the real, standard of care DS, not some imitation. You have made a good decision. The only words of wisdom I have are to have your house clean and in good order and pack light for your hospital stay.

Congratulations! My advice as a recent postop is don't get discouraged if immediate postop is harder than anticipated. Take as much time as you need, accept any help offered, and don't push yourself too fast. Advocate for yourself when needed. My experience is that I felt much less anxiety than anticipated and much more pain. My mood is great but still sore and tired. For me that is better than the other way around!

Welcome Kyle-
Nerves are normal.. the closer you get the more nervous you will get. The first couple of months are rough... but it’s worth every pain, ache and tear in the end. Hang in there and reach out to anyone here. Everyone is in it together and willing to help in any way they can

Hello and welcome. Congrats on your upcoming surgery date. Words of wisdom leading up to surgery: Listen to the veterans here.

Thank you all for your replies.

I had my final lab review with Dr Smith and his PA today.....One more review meeting and then surgery!
Im ready for the surgery, ready for the recovery and the phases on the post op diet.

My only concern is that during every meeting I am told that the loose stools can be a real issue. How bad is this issue? Will I be able to workout, run, play golf, lift weights without pooping my pants?
