DS surgery 12/07 - 90+ lbs lost and have maintained well.

Fell into bad habits, got out of thinking I need to "think" about being a DSer...

Having Tummy Tuck and Implants with a Lift on May 12, which is two weeks from today. But it's time for me to get moving. The new WLS doctor I saw on Wednesday wants me up and moving as soon as I can be after the surgery.

I guess what I'm asking is this - at this point, what kind of a routine do I start?

I saw my doc today about abdominoplasty in the near future and she wants me as strong and healthy as possible. She advised me not to get any surgery until all vit/min and protein levels are well into the norm range. In addition, she wants me to begin more challenging exercise to get physically stronger.

If you haven't been thinking about being a DSer, are your labs going to be okay for this procedure?

I got halfway through the admitting process--on a gurney, IVs in--for a kidney stone procedure and I got sent home. We malabsorb Vitamin K, which means our blood clotting time, is too slow...takes too long. Surgeons don't want to deal with patients whose blood takes too long to clot...makes for poor surgical outcomes.

So...if you haven't had pre-op labs, you might want to have the PT/INR test in advance, so you can deal with any negative results in time for surgery.

And, hi.

You can make a difference in 2 weeks. Walk, as recommended. Use a stationary bike for 15 minutes or so. If you can get a gym membership on a trial basis, they will have the bike and you can ask someone to help you work on your legs and arms, to build strength, since you may have to use muscles in different ways to do things after surgery. Eat extra protein to build up and don't take aspirin or NSAIDs in the week before surgery. Wish I could get better body. Denial, and avoiding full length mirrors naked is my cost effective solution. Good luck!
