Have fun on your trip, eat lots of good food, and take plenty of photos.

Ate too many carbs this week and need to cut that out. I simply cannot bring a package of anything carby (i.e. pita chips) into the house. I thought I could eat a portion of pita chips (18 gm carb) with cheese, but within the day I ate half a bag. By the next day, they were nearly gone. This has left me feeling bloated and fat. Well, this is how we learn and today is a new day.

I haven't updated my measurements since April and did that today. Wow-- what a difference! Waist: 35 to 28. Thanks to hernia surgery.

Staying steady. Spent yesterday in Chicago did enough walking to last all week, but feeling good about it. 2 years ago, I would have had chafed inner thighs to the point of bleeding if I had walked that much. I would have gotten cranky and been miserable and not really able to enjoy the things around me. Now- I could have walked another 18 miles and just had some sore hips and a blister. I am so thankful for my DS giving me back the ability to enjoy these sorts of things

Yay!!!! Do you mind me asking what was your starting weight and how far out from surgery are you?
I don't mind at all!

5-25-16 I started pre-op diet. 238 bmi of 45
6-09-16 day of flight (surgery on 29th) I was 229. At one year out (6-10-17) I was 143. I'm 14 months and 10 days post op. I've lost 107 lbs and my current bmi is 24.8. I had set a goal in my head of 130 so I'm almost there, I have a feeling my DS is going to take me a little lower as I still have fat to lose, but who am I to say? I would be happy right here but I want to be prepared for the talked of "bounce-back" so thought going a little lower wouldn't hurt.

Isn't it wonderful to not have to dread and worry how we are going to do the things everyone else did with not a second thought given?

Oh my goodness it is the most fantastic thing. To me this NSV is better than any number on the scale could ever be (though 199 was an exciting day)

I was very active pre surgery-- well very active for someone 330-350# Where I spent the year prior to surgery. But being so overweight just distracted from the sheer enjoyment of it. We would walk up lakeshore drive and I could only focus on how to position my legs to avoid rubbing. We would go for a bike ride and I would just think about how to be sure to slightly stand over every little bump to avoid breaking spokes on wheels. When we went swimming I was so self conscious about how I looked in a suit, and I would always bring my own towel bc I was sure the pool towels wouldn't fit around me.

Now- those same activities have so much more to offer, I actually get to enjoy them for what they are and what is around me. The experience is so different now in a way I never imagined. My thighs have rubbed together since junior high- I have literally NEVER experienced a walk along the Chicago shore where I could enjoy the city- it is great! So many people take that experience for granted.
