Hi all, I am new here and already I have learned so much. I am pre-op with Dr. Coates for a "Traditional DS" scheduled for 9/13/17. After 6 months of his PA's telling me I was "too old" for a DS and I "might lose too much weight" and trying to talk me into a SADI Loop, my insurance approval came back for the DS (CPT 43845). I met with Dr. Coates to discuss and he said he would do the traditional DS with a 100cm CC. (I hope I have these terms correct). So, I am excited and a little anxious. Basically I don't care as much about being thin as I do about getting a knee replacement at some point (bone on bone x years). I peruse these pages just about everyday making sure I am able to take care of my DS and optimize my health. The information here is invaluable. As Brene Brown says "we can chose courage or we can chose comfort but we cannot have both at the same time." So today I am putting myself out there (I'm usually very private). I chose courage. Thank you for yours.
