Apparently, cooking at home...

Perhaps you are an exceptionally bad cook? Does more go down the disposer than the gullet?

I AM pretty bad. But I use way less salt than restaurants do and I have to expend more energy than just moving from the car to the booth...lol

Moi? Half of what we're eating is made by HungryMan or RedBaron.

But I keep going shopping and trying to buy healthy stuff, which then starts to get old and limp, and I make a casserole/stew in the Ninja with whatever meat I bought plus wilting veggies. Last night, despite the fact that both of us are sick as dogs (I will post my sonnet I wrote for FB at the end), I HAD to cook the stew meat I bought last week, plus some miscellaneous veggies (already cut up bell pepper that was never eaten as a healthy snack as planned; pre-cut celery and onions; a bag of mixed veggies (carrots, broccoli and cauliflower) that never made it as a side dish, a can of diced tomatoes), and a bag of rice (I bought a box of 3 bags of frozen rice that was taking up too much space in the freezer, so I made that instead of potatoes in the stew). I ate a small bowl last night, and just had about the same amount for dinner just now - Charles still isn't up to eating anything "real" since Friday, so I bought him a couple of BigMacs at Walmart this afternoon. So I've got about 8 cups of stew left over, and I'm already getting bored with it.

We move to the beach for three weeks tomorrow, since this park doesn't have space for us for the next three weekends. Then back here, or maybe somewhere else. I dunno at the moment.

My sonnet:

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s cold?
Thou art less miserable and high temperature:
Rough coughs do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s colds hath all too long a course:
Sometime too hot the eye of fever shines,
And often is the pallid complexion dimm’d;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimm’d:
But this eternal summer cold shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of my chest and head;
Nor shall Death release me to his shade,
When it seems I'm doomed to suffer in eternal rheums:
So long as I can barely breathe, and cough and heave,
So long lives this cold, and this gives miserable life to me.

MiniSue, who seldom gets two consecutive days off, spent her two consecutive regular days off, Wed and Thurs, being sick and felt sorry for herself. But she went to work Friday and then Saturday got dx'd w/conjunctivitis...so she got two more conscutive days off...only didn't feel quite as crappy. She will enjoy the sonnet.

Both of those recipes look delicious. I could not risk the pasta but would double up on the topping. :devilish:

Both those recipes look so elegant, especially since I just finished looking at a recipe for tater tot waffles with cheddar, bacon and jalapeños.
