Chevtow progress report

What a great story! Thank you for sharing with us. SO happy for you and for your wonderful Wife!

You go boy. Man 200 pounds in 9 months you darn men make me sick sometimes. LOL You think about dieting and loose weight! Woman we think about food and gain. Your wife is beautiful. Your a lucky man . Good health and someone to share it with, who could ask for more?

As of Monday I have lost over half my starting body weight !! 469 start , 232 Monday. Plus I just realized my BMI is now out of "obese" and into overweight.

Holy balls this has been crazy. My original personal goal was 225. I'm 7#'s away in less than 11 months!!

The "time to stop losing" have started now. My dad asks me all the time when and how I'll stop losing. This is actually a question I don't know the answer to - I'm assuming the body will adjust when it decides I've lost enough?

Awesome.

To answer question about when it stops. Yep, you are along for the ride and your body will eventually hit a stopping point.

Congrats on your progress! You've got to be feeling so much better without that weight on you. Keep rockin' it!!

Don't stop...until your body says so.

IF you have people who have NEVER seen you fat tell you you look too skinny, then listen but to the rest just tell them that your doc is happy with how you are doing.

Awesome isnt it! Congratulations!
Ok, so….I’m going through the same thought processes and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little bit concerned. Why? Because I see no curve, no decrease, no downward trend even though I’m eating more and more. So….I asked my Dr. as well and he said “your body will adjust”..then I said, how? What is the mechanism, what slows the WL down? He said…”we don’t know how it happens, it just does”. As a science person and Engineer, that’s hard for me to digest. So, YES…you are along for the ride and there is NOTHING you can do to make it slow down. I’ve eaten more carbs, sweets etc just to experiment and it doesn’t seem to matter what I eat or what I don’t eat or when I eat it, my WL is the same. Hell, the other night I even ate the biggest GD bowl of ice cream one could possibly eat right before going to bed and got on the scale the next morning and lost 2 more pounds…LOL…go figure. In my previous life, that would have made me gain at least 5 lbs and that is NO exaggeration…..SO….I hear ya and am on the same ride.

My WL is around 130 lbs and I’m down to 225. I wanted 230 to be my stopping point, but have now shifted that to 220 as the absolute minimum I would like to get too...for whatever that’s worth. And yes, I’ve thought all about "bounce back". But again, as said, none of that matters anyway and I have actually ALMOST resigned myself to accept that because we have NO CONTROL, and that to me is SO perplexing and bizarre and extremely difficult to wrap my pea brain around:D!

Both Chevtow and Robs: you may want to discuss with your surgeons whether, if and when it might be a good idea to put the brakes on with Creon. Don't worry about getting down a LITTLE too low - BMI of 20-23 will likely NOT stay there, as there will be bounceback. But if there is no slowdown in sight and you're within 10 lbs of your goal and continuing to lose weight on the same steep trajectory, you may want to think about doing that before you get TOO low.

In this regard watch your labs. If your albumin is low you need to talk to the Dr about Creon. That being said, I felt weak as hell and like passing out by time I figured it out because with albumin and total protein low other lab values were tanking as well.

Too be honest my personal goal weight is still in the overweight category so if I continue to lose down to 200ish, I'll be fine especially with bounce back. I guess even after hearing about people losing like crazy I still expected to be the guy who stopped. My surgeon told me ahead of time that getting to 250 would be a success, so I'm crushing that.

I’m not to worried just yet, BUT….when I do get down a little lower, like under 220, and purely out of MO curiosity...(pun intended)...lol...I am going to have a Hydro-static body comp test done which has only a +/- 1.5% error factor. I don’t go by any of that BMI crapola. It means very little for those of us former MO people. Our bones are denser and weigh more (some estimates are as high as 10-20% more) and the extra skin is at least 5 lbs. So IMHO, that plus your muscle mass really skews the whole BMI equation and makes it even more worthless. In other words, If I’m 225, the real number is probably closer to 210 or 215 factoring in all that. Also, just as an FYI, you can get those Hydro-static body comp tests done for around $50 just about anywhere now. VERY cheap! They even have a mobile one called “The Pod” and it’s set up in a mobile truck. Going by my current rate of declination, I should be doing that sometime in 2-3 weeks or so when I get to 220, sometime in October and will post my results.

Since someone ( @robs477 ) asked and I havent updated in a bit here goes.

I'm 15 months out and have been hovering between 195-200#'s. Which is a loss of 269-274#'s!!

Had microfracture surgery on my knee 3 days after Xmas and have been on crutches since. I've eaten a bit worse and gotten much less exercise (crutches and snow/ice don't mix) but will soon be easing off the sticks and can start at gym and get out more which always helps my diet. Not really sure I want to lose much more but we'll see what my body wants.
Starting a plan to "bulk" up a bit in the muscle department as I'm probably weaker than when I was 12 lol.

No real issues to report, been pretty smooth sailing

How have you been @robs477
