Hi. I'm Vikki. Had my BPD/DS 15 years ago at age 50. I've had my share of complications and additional surgeries, but I have no regrets about my WLS. I'm here to share experiences, offer support, and learn how others deal with postop problems.

Hi and welcome! You won't find a better place than this one. And it's always great to meet another long term DS person.

HI Vikki, glad you are here, can you tell us something about yourself - type of surgery, when you add it, doctor all that stuff. I look forward to getting to know you.

Hi, and thanks for the welcome. Well... My starting BMI was 60, lowest was 30, then settled and stayed around 35. As I age, I feel I'd like to be lighter, so I'm tightening up my eating once again (by that I mean cutting way down on carbs and not grazing all evening). I still eat all the fats and protein I want, but trying to stick to specific meal times. I'm also increasing my water and weaning off caffeine. I plan to make it down to a BMI of 25. In the days when I had my surgery, the postop guidelines were pretty basic -- take your supplements daily, get periodic labs, eat lots of protein before anything else, eat fat as long as it's tolerated, drink lots of fluids, and keep carbs low. I've followed that advice for all these years and the weight has stayed off.

Welcome, @Vikki C.

Love having long time vets show up...

@duh_Mom if you hover over her avatar, her info appears. She had the DS on July 31, 2000 with a Dr. Macura.

Hi. Even this vet has things to learn. Hoping to benefit from the experience of other vets, as well current information newbies might have to offer.
