I do believe I've been kicked off of one of the FB groups I belonged to.
My first time ever to be kicked out of somewhere!

Does this make me an "initiated" DS'er now?

I don't even know what I said....I think one of the RNY'ers probably got a little butt hurt about me pointing out the negatives of that surgery. Someone asked if it was possible to go from a VSG to a RNY and one of the RNY'ers replied and said yes that it was the ONLY thing a VSG could revise to.
I posted and said that was absolutely false and gave FACTS.

On another post, someone asked about deciding between VSG and RNY...people were responding with I chose RNY because you lose more weight and all kinds of ther stuff so I posted links to charts and diagrams and suggested they do lots of research and look at stats of keeping the weight off and rates of regain.

I wasn't ugly...I'm never ugly.
Oh well, this is the page I said I was going to quit anyway, because the level of ignorance was more than I could stomach...
One lady posted yesterday who is like two weeks out and on soft food stage asking if she could eat corn because she just wants something yummy. CORN??? Are you kidding me?

Dumb question ladies but is there any way to join a FB DS group without it showing in my groups? I'm going to tell my close friends and family but I don't want to advertise my surgery on FB.

LOL You have been initiated! Which group was it?

It's called Gastric sleeve and bariatric weight loss surgery pre and post op + YouTube.

It's one of those pages that's kind of like a train wreck you can't help but look at.

I think there's one other person there with a DS..a guy.

My fb page is open to the public..,you can go look on my page and see if you see any of the groups on my page if you like. I don't advertise my surgery on fb or talk about it at all. I ASSUME that nobody can see all the groups I belong to.
My name is Leigh Lajaunie Wilkerson

I just checked via Mr. EN's account. Only my public groups are visible to him. The group Southernlady and I admin is not visible to anyone in your groups/on your wall. If someone knows how to find it, they can see who is a member and the group description, but only if they go to the group URL.

Ah, yeah, I've heard of that one.

Let me guess - the DS guy on that page is Ricky Dee or whatever he's calling himself now?

There are assholes and unstable people in charge of MANY of the bariatric groups. The fact is, FB gives them an outlet for their feeling ignored and dissed all their lives, and many if not most of them inevitably abuse the "power" that creating and running a FB page gives them. It's a shame, but these petty tyrants enjoy the power more than they care about the good of the people in their group when they do things like that - shrug it off and move on. People who speak truth to power often have to deal with this - it is a badge of honor.

As for the unfortunate people in those groups who are being misled or not getting the benefit of your knowledge - you can't win 'em all. And the odds are that eventually, the truth about what the overmoderating group leader REALLY is will come out, and the leadership will change or the group will fade away.

I *think* the closed groups can also be seen in the suggested groups that sometimes pop up on friends' newsfeeds. It doesn't say your name, but in the icon with some members' pictures, your profile pic will be there as well since you're friends. I think that's how my cousin and another friend found me on the DSP page? Not exactly sure, but I find it irritating.

I don't think its Ricky Dee...he is on the DS FB groups I belong to though. This guy is disappearingwithds or something like that.

This group is more the rainbows and unicorns and everybody loves everybody and everybody is great and wonderful and very few know the first thing about their surgery type, or what to eat, or much of anything about anything. You'll very commonly see them say that VSG'ers can never drink from a straw or drink with meals ever and that they can't take NSAIDS. It doesn't matter what you tell them, or if you explain the science, they know better.
They don't want to hear that when the gummy and chewy vites they're taking contain more than half of a daily carb allowance that they need to ditch those vites.

The woman who runs the page is extremely full of herself and she's always proud of everybody and calls herself a victorious warrior and fancies herself a "life coach". *rme*

I posted the other day asking if there was anybody there more than 5 yrs out and got no replies. I think there might be only one or two further out than a year or two but they're all experts.

The other thing that just made me roll my eyes on that page is how many of them drink from baby sippy cups and buy actual baby dishes and utensils.
And when I said I thought that was silly...that I just use a salad plate instead of a full size dinner plate and regular ole forks and spoons I was poopoo'd for not being supportive.

I'm a grown ass woman...as if I'd drink out of a child's sippy cup.

The ONLY time I considered a sippy cup was after my jaw surgery but it hurt so gave up that idea.

I have some really nice china salad plates that do not have the rest of the set, got them from my Mother. We used those the first two years so that our eyes got use to our new portion sizes.
